Learn the art of Knife Making and Bladesmithing in an historic Medieval village forge located outside of Lauterecken (aprox 45 minutes from RAB and Baumholder).
Price is 350 per person, if you book with 2 people , I will offer a discount at 325 per person.

I can accommodate up to 2 people a day per class. (Family workshops may be possible , please contact for further info) This is a full 2 day class. A grilled lunch, drinks, all tools, PPE, materials and equipment are fully provided.
The objective is to complete a quality functional knife to take home with you, (hand forged and/or stock removal) Learn about types of steel, heat treating, hammer control and common forge tools.
Day 1 curriculum:
- Knife design ( have many templates to choose from, all possible for customization)
- Forging or cutting steel for rough design, then grinding to shape, grinding bevels
- Steel preparation to attach handle
- Hardening/Quenching
- Tempering, which takes aprox 5 hours I will do at the end of the day over night
Day 2
- Final blade grinding
- Handle material preparation and assembly
- handle shaping
- Sharpening and having a completed Carbon Steel hand made knife to take home.
Availability: Monday through Thursday - Message to set a date - Weekends can be possible.
Recommended attire: closed toed shoes or work boots, non synthetic clothing (cotton, denim etc) Hat/Baseball cap is also recommended when working with grinders and metal dust.
